Research Associate in Silicon Hybrid Quantum Devices

The appointment will be on UCL Grade 7. The salary range will be £34,056 - £41,163 per annum  , inclusive of London Allowance.

The London Centre for Nanotechnology (University College London) is seeking to appoint up to two post-doctoral researchers to work on collaborative projects investigating quantum transport and spin dynamics dopant atoms and quantum dots in silicon nano-devices, using methodologies which include coherent control of electron and nuclear spins and cavity quantum electrodynamics using superconducting resonators. The aims of the projects include developing long-lived quantum memories and establishing scalable architectures for silicon-based quantum information processing, using standard silicon fabrication processes, taking advantage of the unique properties of both dopants and donors. The post will be under the direction of Prof John Morton, and is funded for two years in the first instance.

The successful applicant will have a PhD in Physics and expertise in measuring quantum transport through semiconductor nanostructures and/or strong coupling of spins and microwave resonators.  Candidates should also have excellent written and verbal communication skills.  Knowledge of measurements at mK temperatures and microwave engineering is desirable.
