A Research Associate position is available from the 1st of November 2016 for a period of two years. You will work within an Innovate-UK funded project in close collaboration with a consortium including a number of leading aerospace industries aiming at identifying environmentally-sustainable technologies for the surface treatment of aerospace aluminium alloys and ensuring their reliability. As a part of this project, you will work on the development of innovative corrosion testing methodologies that will contribute to assess the performance of new surface treatments technologies.
You should have, or be working towards, a PhD or equivalent Corrosion Protection, Materials Science or a closely related subject. Specialist knowledge in Corrosion and Electrochemical Methods, with particular focus on electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and electrochemical noise analysis are essential. You should also have some knowledge related to the development of innovative electrochemical methodologies and/or instrumentation. You should be capable of working under your own initiative and leading a small research team, so excellent communication and organisational skills are also required.
