Applications are invited for 4 Postdoctoral Researchers in the laboratory of Professor Hans Stauss and Professor Emma Morris in the Institute of Immunity & Transplantation at the Royal Free Hospital.The Institute of Immunity & Transplantation is within UCL’s Division of Infection & Immunity. There are more than 12 immunology research groups at the Institute with more than 60 postdoctoral researchers and PhD Students. Work at the Institute aims to translate advances in the understanding of the immune system into improved therapies for patients. For more information about the Institute please visit: www.ucl.ac.uk/immunity-transplantation We are looking for highly motivated and committed postdoctoral scientists with expertise in molecular biology and/or cellular immunology. The posts will offer the opportunity to take responsibility for defined research projects to enhance our understanding of T cell function and use genetic engineering to improve T cell receptor gene therapy of cancer. This is an exciting opportunity to initiate a new programme of work that has the potential to develop novel forms of immunotherapy for cancer treatment. These posts are funded by a research grant from Cell Medica and are available for three years in the first instance.
Applicants should have a PhD (or equivalent experience)(or equivalent degree) or about to be awarded a PhD in a relevant subject, as well as significant experience of research in T cell biology and experience with retro and lentiviral vectors. Familiarity with software packages for molecular biology and experience with animal models of T cell transfer is also desirable. The postholders will be expected to perform high quality research as part of a well-established research team under the direction of Professors Stauss and Morris.The successful candidates will also be able to communicate effectively and ideally have experience of drafting and submitting academic papers for peer reviewed publication.Appointment at Grade 7 is dependent upon having been awarded a PhD (or having the equivalent experience); if this is not the case, initial appointment will be at Grade 6B (salary £29,809 - £31,432 per annum) with payment at Grade 7 being backdated to the date of final submission of PhD Thesis.
