The Governing Body of St Catharine’s College invites applications for election to two Research Fellowships, of which one will be stipendiary, tenable from 1 October 2017 for three years. The Fellowships are open to graduates of any university who (i) are members of the College, or (ii) not being members of the College, are engaged in research in the Sciences.
- The Bowring Research Fellowship is for research in “chemical engineering, computer science, electrical and information sciences, engineering, mathematics, medical and veterinary sciences, and natural sciences”. Natural sciences includes biological and physical sciences. Applications are particularly encouraged from graduates “born in Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand or Malaysia”; applications are also encouraged from candidates “who are born in Asia east of Burma and including Australasia”.
- In the event that no appointment is made to the Bowring Fellowship, the College intends to appoint a stipendiary Research Fellow in the Sciences.
- Applications for a non-stipendiary award, which will otherwise carry the usual benefits of a Research Fellowship, will be considered from applicants who have already secured externally funded research awards for three years from 1 October 2017.
Fellowships are intended to support those at an early stage in their academic careers, and will normally be awarded to those who have recently completed their Ph.D. research, or are close to completion. Candidates should not ordinarily have had more than one year of post-doctoral experience, nor have already held a Research Fellowship elsewhere.
The closing date for applications is Monday, 31 October 2016. Applications should be made via the website (http://www.caths.cam.ac.uk/vacancies) where further particulars are available. Any enquiries should be addressed to the Master’s Secretary, St Catharine’s College, Cambridge, CB2 1RL (email: firstname.lastname@example.org).
