The appointment will be on UCL Grade Professorial. The salary range will be Negotiable on the professorial scale, but not less than £67,147 per annum, inclusive of London Allowance.
The Bartlett Development Planning Unit (DPU) of UCL conducts world-leading research with an international reputation in the fields of urban and regional development and planning. The DPU wishes to appoint a scholar of the highest international calibre as Professor of Development Planning. The successful candidate will have an outstanding record of research and publication and contribute to consolidating DPU’s position as a leading international research and post-graduate teaching department in the fields of urban and regional policy, planning and management in the Global South; contribute to multi-disciplinary research efforts in one DPU’s areas of research such as urban health, urban development planning or urban economics; provide research and consultancy leadership in their field of expertise; teach and supervise students at graduate and PhD level; engage in external activities that bring national and international esteem to the department and UCL.
The successful candidate will have an international reputation in scholarship and research in one of DPU’s strategic research areas (urban health, development planning, or urban economics) and an excellent record of publications in international journals. She or he will demonstrate successful collaboration with research groups, have a significant and sustained success in obtaining research grants, and show in-depth knowledge of a Global South region. She or he will also have experience of teaching at postgraduate level, working in multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural environments and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
