Clinical Teaching Fellow in Primary Care

Imperial College London - Department of Primary Care and Public Health

Clinical Teaching Fellow in Primary Care (Maternity Cover)

We are looking for a committed GP who is keen to develop as both a medical educator and clinician for the post of Clinical Teaching Fellow in Primary Care.

The post offers training and experience in teaching and protected time to become skilled in a range of teaching methods with medical undergraduates. The successful post-holder will be encouraged to develop academic skills in medical education and as general practitioners. The post holder will hold a clinical appointment in a practice which is able to contribute to teaching Imperial College students for the duration of the post. The post holder will teach in both their practice and at the Medical School.

The appointee will be a member of the Department of Primary Care and Public Health and will be based primarily at the Charing Cross Campus located in Hammersmith. The appointee will become part of the team of GP educators at Imperial and will play a full and active role both in the academic life of the Department and in their linked General Practice.

Applicants should have an interest in undergraduate medical education and a good understanding of the organisation of general practice and current developments in primary care. Full registration with the General Medical Council is essential.

This part time maternity cover post (14 hours per week) is for a fixed term of 9 months. It allows the post holder practical experience to develop academic skills in medical education. At the end of the contract, the post holder will have gained a wide range of educational experience which will equip them to move on to more senior teaching and training roles.

As this post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974, a satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check will be required for the successful candidate.
