The Middlesex Hospital was founded in 1745 and closed in 2005. It has a large, partially catalogued archive of material and requires some conservation. You will work as part of the Arts and Heritage team to complete the catalogue the archives of The Middlesex Hospital and its medical school. The archives comprise corporate and clinical records, which date from 1747-c.2005. Part of the role includes collecting oral histories from members of staff, both past and present, as an ongoing oral history project will form part of the arts and heritage collections. As well as this you will promote the newly catalogued archives within a wider community so should expect to take part in public engagement work.
This is an exciting opportunity to complete catalogue the archives of one of London’s most famous hospitals.
This post is funded 2 years in the first instance.
Applicants must hold a Post qualification experience in cataloguing and have knowledge of Isad (g). The ability to set and keep to cataloguing targets is essential and a postgraduate qualification in archives administration is desirable.
