The Department of Mechanical Engineering is seeking to recruit a talented and enthusiastic Lecturer (Assistant Professor) in Mechatronics / Mechatronic Product Design, or Robotics.
In 2016/17, a new studio-based MEng programme in Integrated Design Engineering (IDE) is launched at the University of Bath. The programme builds on an established track record in Design and interdisciplinary collaboration between the Mechanical and Electrical Engineering departments.The Departments have a joint MEng degree programme in Integrated Mechanical and Electrical Engineering and MSc programmes in Engineering Design, Automotive Engineering and Mechatronics.
Applications are sought from candidates who are ambitious in terms of grant capture, research supervision, publications and enthusiastic teaching. There will be full opportunity for creative research and the necessary laboratory or virtual space to support this activity.
The applicant must be able to demonstrate the capability to conduct independent and/or collaborative research within the scope of Mechatronics or Robotics,obtain external research funding and publish high-quality research papers.
Applicants must provide a four-page outline of a potential research grant application and be prepared to discuss this at interview. Typically this application would be aimed at the EPSRC First-Grant Scheme and it would be expected that the successful lecturer submit this within the first year of the appointment.
