The University of Central Lancashire wishes to recruit a Data Manager to support the work of the Lancashire Clinical Trials Unit (CTU), located within the College of Health and Wellbeing. The post-holder will be responsible for overseeing data management activities across a portfolio of trials within the Lancashire CTU and co-ordinate the archiving of trial data.
The post holder will support the Lancashire Clinical Trials Unit in the development, validation, implementation and maintenance of trial-specific databases and other information systems and services. They will support more junior staff to deliver services to specification in a timely manner and contribute to the ongoing development of the CTU data management policy, ensuring compliance with current legislation.
The successful applicant will have experience of working with clinical data systems within a clinical research or NHS setting as well as experience of study/project start-up and overseeing data management activities. They will also have experience of questionnaire design (e.g. formatting and construction) and using relevant guidelines and procedures (e.g. Standard Operating Procedures). A relevant degree or professional qualification (e.g. Clinical Data Management, Computer Science) or equivalent vocational qualifications or experience is essential.
The successful applicant will possess knowledge of clinical data management and information processes as well as Good Clinical Practice and governance standards, especially in relation to clinical trials/data management. Excellent oral and written communication skills are required as the successful applicant will be required to generate meaningful and appropriate documentation and also teach and train staff.
