The Estates and Hospitality Department provides strategic and operational services support to the University infrastructure, buildings and landholdings. We are a large and diverse department employing approximately 1100 people and provide a wide range of including: Facilities Maintenance, Capital Development, Energy Management, Grounds Management, Building Services, Engineering Services, Domestic Services, Space Management, Transport & Logistics, Security, Minor Works, Sustainability, Environmental Management, accommodation, catering and conference facilities for students, University staff and conference delegates.
The Director of Estates (Operations) is a senior management position within the University Estates Directorate. The role will be responsible for providing leadership and management within the Estate operations and will develop strategies with Heads of Section to ensure the University operates in a safe, sustainable manner and meets our customers’ expectations.
The successful candidate will work with senior colleagues from all areas of the University providing expertise and advice and will share best practice as required. The role will have responsibility for considerable operational procurement and expenditure within allocated budgets.
Candidates should be professionally qualified/ have a relevant degree, plus extensive relevant managerial experience and have in-depth experience in a relevant specialist area such as surveying, engineering or facilities management. Candidates should have highly developed knowledge of the principles, theory and practice of Estates and Facilities services across a diverse multi-site property portfolio and have experience of managing and controlling substantial budgets. Ideally candidates will be a chartered member of a professional body such as RICS or CIOB.
