Postdoctoral Research Fellow

University of Edinburgh - Centre for Cognative and Neural Systems

A three year postdoctoral research fellow position is available to use single unit recording, DREADDs and behavioural techniques to understand how the brain represents space.

The Wood/Dudchenko lab is seeking an enthusiastic postdoctoral research fellow to assess the circuitry underlying hippocampal place cell firing. The project will involve single unit recording of spatial cells in the hippocampus, medial entorhinal cortex and subiculum, combined with manipulations of the head direction cell system in rodents. Experience with stereotaxic surgery is essential, and experience with single-unit electrophysiology is desirable.

The position is funded by the BBSRC for 36 months. The starting date is negotiable from December 1st.
