The University of Bath is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, experienced Disability Adviser to provide advice, support and information to disabled students, prospective students and staff, ensuring that all students have access to high quality, progressive and student-centred services and that University staff are supported in meeting the needs of disabled students.
This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of a progressive Student Services team to work within an integrated range of high quality, evidence-based services which are designed to ensure that all disabled students have the opportunity to access and fully benefit from their academic and broader student experience.
The role includes provision of advice and guidance for disabled students; using experience, knowledge, skills and judgement to identify and develop solutions to resolve complex student issues/problems within the context of the University’s Education Strategy.
You will be educated to first-degree level or with equivalent experience and you will have experience, preferably in the Higher Education sector, in providing advice relating to disabled students with complex needs, experience of identifying and implementing reasonable adjustments, knowledge of inclusive teaching practices and disability issues. You will also have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work within a small team to provide the best possible student experience.
Student Services comprises Counselling and Mental Health; Disability; Advice and Guidance; Residential Life and Wellbeing Service and Funding Advice services. The post holder will contribute to the development of the service whilst working closely with other Professional Services, Academic Departments and community based agencies.
This is a part-time post of 29.20 hours per week (0.8FTE), and the working pattern will beTuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. The successful applicant will be subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service check.
