The Oxford University Big Data Institute (BDI) is a new interdisciplinary research centre aiming to develop, evaluate and deploy efficient methods for acquiring and analysing biomedical data at scale and for exploiting the opportunities arising from such studies.
As Head of Research Computing for the BDI you will be responsible for developing, implementing and managing the research computing strategy for the BDI, including both on-site facilities and future off-site expansion, providing hardware, software and user support to scientists. You will work closely with research groups to help understand needs and design innovative, effective and scalable solutions while maintaining appropriate standards of data integrity, security, privacy and access.
Applicants should have a PhD or equivalent experience as well as extensive experience of developing and managing a complex scientific research computing infrastructure and the ability to manage centralised compute resources. You will also have line management and budgetary experience (in a technical computing environment) and knowledge of relevant hardware and software technologies.
The position is fixed-term for 5 years in the first instance and full-time (although part-time considered).
