The School of the Biological Sciences wishes to recruit a Head of Administration in the Department of Pharmacology to support the Head of Department and manage the Department's administrative and technical support services. These include financial planning and control; appointment of staff and HR issues; grants and contracts + IPR; security; allocation of space; all supporting policy and procedures as appropriate in realising the academic ambition. In addition, the post will represent the Department's interests in negotiations concerning the integration of the MRC Toxicology Unit (in the neighbouring building) and its physical representation where space is to be shared with the Department.
The successful candidate will have a good first degree level education; excellent communication, organisational and project management skills; well-developed negotiating and moderating skills and experience of Higher Education administration, particularly dealing with senior academic, administrative and support staffing issues.
Limited funding: The funds for this post at Grade 9 are available for 3 years in the first instance, with the possibility of renewal over the longer-term.
