Applications are invited to work as part of a €4M EU Horizon 2020 project focused on improving the crashworthiness of composite transportation structures (ICONIC). The successful candidates will pursue a three-year PhD programme in an innovative, multidisciplinary and inter-sectoral structured research and training programme with secondments of up to three months at other partner organisations.

The successful candidates will undertake a research project in the area of Developing sustainable energy absorbing materials for transportation structures or Thermoplastic self-reinforced composites for energy-absorbing applications, leading to the award of a PhD.

Salary scale: £23,854 per annum with pension, or £27,208 per annum without pension, complemented by a mobility allowance of £363 per month.
