Senior Research Associate - Distributed Systems
Lancaster University - School Computing and Communications
|Salary:||£32,958 to £38,183|
|Contract Type:||Contract / Temporary|
|Placed on:||10th October 2016|
|Closes:||6th November 2016|
An exciting opportunity is available to undertake postdoctoral research in Distributed Systems with the School on Computing and Communications, Lancaster University, UK. This post is linked to the CHIST-ERA/EPSRC-funded “Declarative and Interoperable Overlay Networks, Applications to Systems of Systems (DIONASYS)” project, which is a collaboration between Lancaster and the Universities of Neuchatel (Switzerland), Bordeaux (France) and Cluj-Napoca (Romania). The DIONASYS project focuses on raising the level of abstraction provided to designers of distributed systems of systems using an overlay-based approach.
You will join Lancaster in order to study the definition and construction of distributed systems of system by composition. The scope of this encompasses domain-specific languages close to the application developer, large-scale overlay-based middleware structures, and composable protocols. Solid experience and knowledge of distributed systems and, ideally, computer networks, is essential to the post. Lancaster University is specifically involved in the project in integrating adaptation and composition mechanisms, and in leading the implementation of a demonstrator featuring large-scale sensor networks (both emulated and real).
You will be joining the Distributed Systems research group at Lancaster which is internationally renowned for its research in distributed systems domains such as middleware, wireless sensor networks, and the Internet of Things.
The post is full-time, is available for an immediate start and will end on 30 November 2017.
Interested candidates should contact Professor Gordon Blair (firstname.lastname@example.org).
We welcome applications from people in all diversity groups.
