The Department of Physics has a vacancy for an experienced technician to manage the extensive high vacuum and ultra-high vacuum thin film deposition systems within the Semiconductor Physics group. This is an exciting opportunity to work with world leading researcher.
The duties include the monitoring, maintenance and development of the state of the art research equipment. The role also includes elements of component design including mechanical, electrical and high-vacuum techniques.
Educated to HNC level in mechanical engineering, the successful candidate will have broad experience in these areas, including, ideally, work in a cleanroom environment.
Good organisational skills are essential, together with the ability to understand and explain diverse technical and design problems to other staff and students.
Once an offer of employment has been accepted, the successful candidate will be required to undergo a health assessment.
