The Student Support Service provides professional advice and guidance for students, prospective students and their supporters and University staff on a wide range of areas, including; student finance, disability matters, academic access and inclusion, physical and mental wellbeing, student engagement and peer mentoring. We put our students at the very centre of all we do and you will have the opportunity to gain valuable knowledge and experience from working in a dynamic and busy service.
About the role
The role-holder will work in a holistic, multi-disciplinary team of professional Student Support staff, with a focus on the provision of Information, Advice and Guidance; helping students to make decisions leading to successful progression, qualification completion and an overall positive student experience. This post takes the lead on the provision of advice and guidance on SpLDs, ensuring the University provides an inclusive learning environment and students are able to achieve their potential. The post holder will also provide advice and training to other University staff to enable them to work proactively with students disclosing SpLDs.
You will come to us with considerable experience of working with individuals with SpLDs, ideally in an education or other public sector setting. You will be a highly motivated individual with excellent interpersonal, administrative, and IT skills, you will have a degree or other professional qualification together with a flair for contributing to policy development. Above all, you will have a commitment to enabling disabled people to realise their potential.
