The salary will be paid at Grade 6, £32,958 to £34,956 per annum, plus £2,623 per annum London Allowance.
This post will be Fixed Term Contract for 2 years with a latest start date of the 1 January 2017.
This is a Full-time position.
The post holder will undertake in vivo preclinical experiments using imaging methods (immunohistochemistry, autoradiography, position emission tomography) to improve the understanding of the mechanistic link between the translocator protein (TSPO) and neuroinflammation.
The post is funded by GlaxoSmithKline and the Wellcome Trust under the collaborative ‘Consortium project for neuroimmunology of mood disorders and Alzheimer’s disease’ that strives to characterise the link between systemic (general) inflammation, neuro-inflammation and brain disorders such as depression and Alzhemier’s disease, in order to shift the focus of clinical intervention from traditional neural targets to the immune system.
We are looking for a candidate with a PhD in a relevant scientific discipline and a keen interest in neuroinflammation, imaging and translational studies. Background in preclinical laboratory work is essential, as is some experience of imaging and handling radioactivity. The candidate should also have sound computational skills and will be expected to perform, develop and optimise computational data/image analysis strategies.
The selection process will include a presentation and a panel interview.
