Quality Improvement Skills Training Manager, Wales Deanery (Postgraduate Medical and Dental Education)

Cardiff University

The Wales Deanery (Postgraduate Medical and Dental Education - PGMDE) is looking to recruit an individual to provide comprehensive and professional management of the Wales Deanery’s quality improvement skills training (QIST) activities at the interface between postgraduate medical education and training (PMET) and healthcare in Wales.

The Deanery has committed to QIST for postgraduate Doctors, Dentists, Dental Care Professionals and General Practice trainees. The Deanery has appointed an Associate Dean (QIST) and is forming collaborations with Health Boards, local faculty, the undergraduate schools and Public Health Wales via the 1000 Lives Plus programme amongst others.
The purpose is to ensure that all trainees in Wales have access to learning in QI methodology that is appropriate for their level of expertise and their curriculum requirements, to enable trainees to contribute to service improvements and for their own personal and professional development.  This would empower trainees to develop the skills needed to lead on QI methodology and increase the number of trainees with enhanced quality improvement capabilities, thereby creating a Welsh network of QI leaders who can successfully drive change.  It would also help improve patient safety by reducing harm and preventable mortality and improve the health of the population by applying integrated approaches to improve care.
