Applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Research Associate in Bioinformatics to work on a high profile project within the Division of Infection and Immunity. The work is funded by The Medical Research Council Experimental Medicine Grand Challenges Programme and aims to evaluate innovative strategies for reversing the effects of ageing on the immune system. This post offers the opportunity to study in vivo host-pathogen interactions using transcriptional profiling by next generation sequencing to simultaneously evaluate host and pathogen biology at genome-wide level. It represents a fantastic opportunity to develop new strategies for integration and deconvolution on high dimensional data in order to reveal new biological insights. The postholder will benefic from a critical mass of expertise in immunology, pathogen biology and bioinformatics at UCL and through collaborators at the Roslin Institute. The post is available until 31st December 2018 in the first instance.
Successful candidates must have a PhD or about to be awarded (or equivalent degree) in a relevant subject, with experience of high dimensional data analysis, bioinformatics and statistics. Experience of pathogen genomics and background in human immunology is desirable. Appointment at Grade 7 is dependent upon having been awarded a Phd; if this is not the case, initial appointment will be at research assistant Grade 6B (salary £29,809 - £31,432 per annum) with payment at Grade 7 being backdated to the final submission date of PhD Thesis.
