The Department of Accounting Economics and Finance are seeking to appoint an Associate Head of Department - Economics Programmes (AHOD) to carry out a key academic leadership role in the Department’s executive team.
You will work with the Head of Department and Department Academic Director to contribute to the development of strategy and operational planning for the UG and PG programme portfolio in economics, and will lead and drive programme innovation and improvement.
You will be accountable for overall student satisfaction, retention, progression and success within the economics programme cluster, alongside their own teaching, research and related scholarly activity.
You will also be expected to engage in the pluralist ethos of the economics group and actively contribute to the open and critical debates in economic thought.
You will have a good first degree in Economics or closely related discipline and a substantial record of achievement as an academic. You will be undertaking teaching, research and professional practice, in a relevant programme/subject area, and have significant knowledge of the theory and practice of teaching and learning including ways of enhancing the student experience in higher education.
Associate Heads of Department will hold key academic leadership roles within the new departmental structures. They will work with the Head of Department to contribute to the development of a strategy, and develop and implement a plan for, the programmes(s) or subject that they are directing.
Depending on the size of the department and the level of challenge in directing the programme(s) or subject, this role may be undertaken by an associate head who is also responsible for a portfolio.
