Research Assistant in Neurogenetic Disorders

We are seeking a research assistant with experience working with primary human brain tissue as well as stem cells. You will be a member of the Cader research group based in the JR Hospital with responsibility for the provision of research support for a newly funded project. You will be expected to provide support and guidance to research students where appropriate.

Your duties will include managing your own research and administrative activities, contributing to project planning, including the generation of new research projects. You will determine appropriate methodologies to test hypotheses, follow and adapt when necessary experimental protocols as well as gather, analyse and present scientific data from a variety of sources.

You will hold a first degree together with some relevant experience and be working towards a doctorate in a specialist discipline. Experience working with primary human brain tissue and stem cells with sufficient specialist knowledge in the discipline to work within an established research programme is essential. Experience of working in a research team and contributing to publications would be advantageous.

The post is full-time for a fixed-term of 1 year in the first instance.
