Academic Registry is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, proactive and competent individual to support the development of a new team that will take responsibility for the University’s Assessment and Regulatory Framework. Having recently undertaken a strategic review of Student Management Administration, the University has created a new department that will be made up of colleagues who will be embedded within faculties and those who will be embedded within the central Academic Registry Directorate. Members of the team will work closely in order to develop processes and knowledge based relationships in order to foster a culture of continuous improvement. Whilst a member of the Assessment, Regulations and Appeals (ARA) team, this post will be embedded in one of the faculties (one per 0.5FTE) and will report directly to the Head of Assessment and Regulations. Good working relationships will also be developed with the relevant Faculty Associate Dean (or equivalent), the Senior Assistant Registrar and Assessment, Regulations and Appeals Co-ordinators.
You will have experience of working in a Higher Education sector with substantial knowledge in the areas of assessment, regulation and appeals. You will have experience of supporting and contributing to cross-university projects and clerking and managing the business of high level committees. Working closely with faculty colleagues and with the Head of Assessment and Regulations you will take the lead in providing high level advice and support for all aspects of the University’s Assessment and Regulatory Framework, whilst taking the lead on specific areas such as the development and review of Mitigating Circumstances & Extensions and Academic Misconduct. This will include the ongoing production of guidance and staff development. Key to this role will be the ability to identify opportunities for continual improvement and to work proactively to resolve complex issues relating to assessment and regulations. Excellent written and oral communication skills will allow you to effectively investigate and respond to stage 2 academic appeals in liaison with the Head of Assessment and Regulations. You will have an awareness of student record systems and the types of data integrity issues that pertain to assessment and regulations and have the ability to proactively identify and resolve these in order to support the assessment process.
