IAS WIRL-COFUND Fellow (78592-106)

University of Warwick

Two years fixed term contract.

The Institute of Advanced Studies is seeking to recruit up to nine outstanding early career researchers to participate in the Warwick Interdisciplinary Research Leadership Programme (WIRL). This programme is jointly funded by the University of Warwick and the European Union through the Marie Skùodowska Curie COFUND scheme.

These two-year fellowships will offer successful applicants the opportunity to accelerate their research careers by developing their own independent research ideas in a world-leading research environment, under the guidance of an academic mentor. Alongside this, fellows will undertake a specific programme of advanced training delivered through the IAS Academic Careers and Leadership Programme (AcCaLd). In keeping with the ethos of Warwick’s IAS, interdisciplinary research applications are strongly encouraged.

Applicants must demonstrate transnational mobility and, at the time of the deadline for submission of applications, must not have resided or carried out his/her main activity (work/study etc.) in the UK for more than 12 months in the three years prior to the deadline. Time spent in the UK on a career break (i.e. for maternity leave) will not count towards the 12 month maximum.

Fellowships are open to applicants of any discipline who are able to demonstrate the ability to apply or extend their knowledge beyond disciplinary specialisms and propose a comprehensive and innovative research project that aligns with at least one of Warwick’s cross-faculty Global Research Priorities (GRPs). Each GRP is interdisciplinary in nature and therefore open to contributions from researchers of any faculty/disciplinary field. Fellowships are also suitable to those wishing to pursue discipline hopping research.

Successful candidates will be based in the IAS but will have a strong presence in a home academic department and GRP. Applicants are strongly encouraged to identify a potential academic mentor at Warwick and make contact with them prior to submission of the application. The starting date for the fellowships will be September 2017.

Further guidance for applicants is available on the WIRL-COFUND website http://www2.warwick.ac.uk/fac/cross_fac/ias/wirl/
