The new post of Director for the Liverpool Centre of Advanced Policing Studies will provide strategic and operational leadership for the Centre. The Centre, launched in 2015, has gone from strength to strength. As a result the University has taken the decision to remove the Centre from the School of Humanities and Social Science and to position it as directly reporting into the Faculty level. The post, which will report directly to the Executive Dean, Professor Joe Yates, offers an exciting opportunity to provide leadership for a ground-breaking interdisciplinary Centre as it moves into its next phase of development. The Director will be supported by a leadership team consisting of; Head of Academic programmes, Head of Continuous Professional Development and Strategic Law Enforcement Partnership, and a Professor who will lead our ambitious research strategy. The successful candidate will, first and foremost, be an academic leader who build on our considerable successes to ensure we are at the cutting edge of national, and ultimately, international developments in the field of Policing.
The Centre through its academic portfolio, its research and its emerging CPD agenda is committed to working in partnership with the sector to meet the challenges of 21st century Policing. It draws on a wide range of disciplines, from across the University, to inform its approach and in doing so opens up new vistas in research which in turn informs our portfolio and how we engage and work with the sector.
The successful candidate will, through the management structure of the Centre, provide leadership and line management to academic staff in the Centre. You will work across the Faculty and the University to ensure that the Centre reflects the breadth and depth of expertise across the institution and will be proactively engaged with the Sector at a senior level.
Informal enquiries may be made to Professor Joe Yates, Executive Dean, Faculty of Arts, Professional and Social Studies J.Yates1@ljmu.ac.uk
