The Blackett Laboratory, Department of Physics, wishes to appoint five new academic staff, including two Lecturers in Experimental Quantum Physics. Applicants with a strong background in the area of experimental quantum physics are invited to apply.
The appointees will be affiliated to the Photon Science Section of the Department. The Photon Science Section is composed of 25 academic staff. The expertise of the group relevant to the post includes quantum control of cold atoms and molecules, ion traps, quantum optics and quantum information processing theory and quantum dynamics on attosecond timescales. The successful applicants will complement or enhance and expand the research interests of the sections.
Candidates will have a good undergraduate degree and a PhD (or equivalent) in and relevant subject and should provide evidence of a developing international standing in the research area relevant to the post. Candidates will also have an excellent publication record, and have experience of teaching undergraduate students. Appointees will be able to attract and supervise high-quality PhD students, supervise postdoctoral research staff, publish papers in leading peer-reviewed journals, disseminate research findings at international conferences, obtain research funding, and contribute enthusiastically to the Department’s outstanding undergraduate and Master’s teaching programme. They will also be expected to interact with colleagues from other departments at Imperial, as well as develop collaborations nationally and internationally.
