Salary: £37,768 to £46,414 per annum, depending on skills and experience. Salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance.

Applications are invited for the above post based at the Rural Business Research Unit, Sutton Bonington Campus. This post includes three main functions: I) to manage the specialist team of Research Officers within the Rural Business Research Unit, including the provision of specialist knowledge, advice and solutions to colleagues with respect to the Farm Business Survey (FBS) research programme, and the production of reports drawing on FBS data; II) to undertake the role of Project Manager for Rural Business Research; III) to collect, analyse and process farm level and financial data for the Defra funded FBS project, including liaising with co-operating farmers and to travel to and from various farms which is a key element of the role.
Candidates should have a degree in Agriculture or related subject, Accounting or Business Management (or related qualification); alternatively it would also be desirable to hold a Masters degree in a relevant field. Extensive contemporary experience of undertaking the Farm Business Survey (FBS) research programme, together with indepth knowledge of the specialist research protocols and methodologies of the FBS are essential requirements.
An excellent knowledge of Microsoft Excel, plus strong communication, administrative and organisational skills, with ability to work at a high level of accuracy and numeracy, are required. A good knowledge of UK agriculture, farm business management and accountancy principles are also required for the role. A willingness to work flexibly, as demanded by the nature of the role, the ability to travel to and from farms in the UK and access to own transport are essential requirements.
This post will be available from 1 March 2017 and will be offered on a full time, fixed-term contract for a period of 2 years.
