Under new leadership, the Department of Computing is investing in its research and teaching capacity with a goal of making a substantial submission to the Computer Science and Informatics Unit of Assessment in REF 2020. The department has strong links with industry and we pride ourselves on being able to place over 70% of our students for their industrial placement year. Candidates with industrial links are encouraged to apply.
You will be expected to contribute to the teaching of students in the areas of software engineering, programming and/or games development including the ability to provide specialist support for undergraduate and postgraduate students carrying out their final-year projects or dissertations.
You will have the potential to contribute high quality research in software engineering, programming or games development, through journal publication, research income generation and engagement with stakeholders. You will join an existing research group in the department and work with colleagues to build both research capacity and deliver impact.
As well as the ability to inspire and motivate students, you'll need a research profile that is on target for a strong return to the next Research Assessment Exercise (REF), alongside the ability to undertake independent high-quality research in an appropriate specialism. A PhD in a relevant discipline is desirable.
