Head of Development (Quality, Standards and Assessment) and Recruitment – Joint Royal Colleges of Physicians Training Board – permanent contract
The Joint Royal Colleges of Physicians Training Board (JRCPTB) is constituted by the Federation of Royal Colleges of Physicians of the UK as the body responsible for delivering the three Colleges’ role in setting, maintaining and monitoring standards, for physician specialist training and assessment in the UK.
The Royal College of Physicians is seeking to appoint a senior manager to join the JRCPTB and lead our Development and Recruitment Team who play a critical role in the work of the department and are collectively responsible for: curricula and assessment development; delivery of a fair and equitable recruitment process for postgraduate doctors; quality management of training programmes; new initiatives relating to core and specialty training and our committee services function. As Head of Development you will also have specific responsibility for the advisory role the JRCPTB plays in the quality management of training programmes function.
The successful applicant will have an excellent understanding of the current healthcare agenda in the UK and particularly issues affecting post graduate medical education and training, being able to use this knowledge to identify implications for physician training and education.
You will work closely with the Director of JRCPTB as well as with Clinicians, other senior managers and staff within the department and key external bodies and stakeholders. You will play a key role in the development and implementation of the JRCPTB’s strategic objectives as well as ensuring effective delivery of operational plans.
The post holder will have proven leadership and change management skills and experience, excellent communication skills, an ability to lead on multiple complex work streams simultaneously along with a solid understanding of quality management functions. The role offers an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to make a significant contribution to the work of the JRCPTB and ultimately physicianly medicine. It would suit someone with drive and enthusiasm to work in a highly demanding organisation focussed on improvements in healthcare and the health of the population.
