The renewed and growing interest in material process within visual culture has led to an increasing demand for the development of elective modules and summer school workshops within WSMAD.
The successful candidate will work alongside Research Leader Clare Twomey and technical support to engage students in basic ceramic and material practices across a range of undergraduate disciplines. The post will involve the development and running of a materials module, the setting up of summer school workshops in collaboration with the technician, the support of ceramic practice within the technical workshops at all levels and the working with the Ceramics Research Centre–UK in long term projects.
The successful candidate will be expected to have a degree in a relevant discipline. They will have experience of various clay skills, including slip-casting, be able to demonstrate an understanding of clay and modelling materials that can be used in the forming of ideas and final projects giving contextual understanding of materials and making. The role will involve liaising with technical and research staff in Harrow campus, the Westminster School of Media, Arts and Design Home site. The candidate will be required to work at events off site and outside normal office hours.
