We seek to appoint a Research Fellow within the Institute of Energy Futures, Energy Efficient and Sustainable Energy Technologies Theme, and the RCUK National Centre for Sustainable Energy USE in Food Chains (CSEF) to work on a recently funded EPSRC project on ‘Optimising Energy Management in Industry’. The project involves collaboration with the Universities of Cranfield and Queen’s University Belfast as well as a number of industry partners. The project aims to investigate and develop approaches, modelling tools and technologies to effect significant reductions of energy demand and carbon emissions in industry with primary focus on the steel and food sectors.
Candidates are expected to have a relevant PhD degree and broad knowledge and experience in the area of thermal systems and energy conversion technologies, for example thermal to electrical power, heat to cooling, energy storage etc., including modelling and energy system simulation skills particularly in the modelling of heat transfer and power conversion equipment and the integration of individual component models into overall energy system models for processes and industrial sites.
The candidates will also be expected to have very good presentation, communication and report writing skills and the ability to produce high quality research outputs.
The posts are available for 36 months from 1st December 2016.
