The Turbomachinery Research Centre (TRC) is looking to recruit a post-doctoral Research Associate to conduct experimental research across a range of EPSRC and Siemens-funded programmes.
The successful candidate will build and commission a new single-stage gas turbine test facility. The facility will model the interaction between the mainstream gas-path and the secondary air system, and feature interchangeable rim-seals, rotor blades and endwalls. Experimental methods to be employed in the new facility will include: 5-hole pressure probes, hot-wire, gas concentration analysis, 3D particle image velocimetry (V3V) and planar laser-induced fluorescence (PLIF).
We are looking for applicants with experience in fluid-dynamics, ideally with an emphasis on experimental research. Experience with any of the above mentioned techniques is advantageous but not necessary.
The successful applicant will join a growing research centre which now employs six academics, three post-doctoral researchers and a team of nine PhD students. Details of current research projects can be found at:
This post is full time (36.5 hours per week) and is being offered on a Fixed Term Contract basis with an anticipated expiry date of 30 September 2018.
