Beijing Institute of Technology (BIT) is a prestigious national key university in China and enjoys a high reputation in research and education in science, technology and other areas of scholarship. The School of International Education, BIT, started to deliver a four-year undergraduate BA (Hons) Accounting programme in association with Business Informatics, Systems and Accounting (BISA), Henley Business School, University of Reading, UK. The programme runs at BIT campus in Beijing with staff from both BIT and Henley Business School. Graduates from this programme will receive degrees and degree certificates from both BIT and the University of Reading.

We are seeking to appoint one Assistant Professor (lecturer) in Human Resource Management to join our academic team in Beijing. The appointee is expected to make a significant contribution to the academic teaching (including outreach activities) with associated responsibilities in administration and collaborative research. The teaching may include a combination of lecturing on various modules, seminars, workshops, tutorials, project/dissertation supervision at the undergraduate level, together with appropriate assessment and feedback in the area of human resources management and business management. Applications are welcome from candidates with professional experiences and academic practice in Human Resource Management.

The salary will be within the range of 300,000 to 400,000 RMB (£36,000 to £48,000) per annum depending on qualifications. BIT will cover one round-trip international air ticket every year and provide insurance and accommodation. There may be some travel between the UK and China as required.


  • A PhD or professional qualifications in Human Resource Management, Management science and engineering or closely related subject
  • Evidence of teaching professionally accredited management skills, people and organizations modules, etc.
  • Specialist knowledge of theories and contemporary practice in the field of management
  • Fluent English speaker
  • A strong cultural understanding of working overseas, preferably in China

Ideal qualifications:

  • Teaching Certificate (eg The Higher Education Academy Fellowship in UK)
  • A strong record of teaching on Undergraduate programmes with at least three years’ teaching experience
