Research Manager - Neuroscience, Ethics and Society

Grade 7: £30,738 - £37,768 with a discretionary range to £41,255 p.a.

Applications are invited for a research manager to work in the Neuroscience Ethics and Society Team (NEUROSEC), led by Professor Ilina Singh. NEUROSEC is a new and growing team based in Psychiatry with formal affiliations with the Oxford Uehiro Centre in the Department of Philosophy and The Oxford Ethox Centre in the Nuffield Department for Population Health. Current research includes a Wellcome Trust Investigator project on the ethics of early intervention in child psychiatry. Projects starting in the next year include a collaboration with the Broad Institute of Harvard and MIT in global psychiatric genetics research, the EU-funded project ROADMAP, and the Oxford Mental Health BRC. The post is based in the Department of Psychiatry and is funded for 3 years.

You will be expected to take a leadership role in the administration, strategic planning, and coordination of NEUROSEC projects and personnel, including oversight of operational aspects, research ethics permissions and grant applications. You will be the first port of call for external queries, and will take the lead in maintaining an updated Team website and in identifying suitable media and policy outlets for the Team’s work.

You will have a degree in psychology, health policy, business or a relevant discipline, along with demonstrated experience of managing academic research team operations. With excellent organisation skills and attention to detail you will have experience of working in a medical, academic or research environment, and experience of NHS research ethics. An interest in psychiatry, childhood studies, bioethics, developmental psychology or neuroscience would be an advantage as would knowledge of research project website developmen
