With a history spanning over 50 years, Bournemouth Film School (BFS) sits at the heart of Arts University Bournemouth and brings together the disciplines of film production, animation and VFX.
The BA (Hons) Film Production and MA Film Production courses utilise a specialist award structure modelled on the contemporary film industry and contextualised by a philosophy of practical learning in an academic environment. The courses are developing important links with the new BA (Hons) VFX course, supported by the University’s on-campus relationship with Framestore, and have well established collaborations with courses in Costume, Make-up and Acting.
The Bournemouth Film School at AUB is seeking a film practitioner with skills and experience in Cinematography to teach on our vibrant and established BA (Hons) Film Production and MA Film Production courses.
The successful applicant will have significant experience in camera operation and lighting, both studio and location, and some teaching experience. In particular, we are looking for someone is familiar with, and can articulate, the latest developments in digital production in the professional environment, including camera systems such as the Arri Alexa, RED Epic and other current systems. A familiarity with the use of 16mm and 35mm film cameras would also be useful. You will also be familiar with current forms of film lighting and be a strong and effective communicator, sharing our passion for all aspects of film practice, production and education.
You will be an enthusiastic practitioner who is able to convey an in depth knowledge of film production to masters and degree level students. You will take responsibility for supporting the effective learning of all students, including setting, supervising and assessing work. You will also contribute to the development of the course curriculum. You should be able to work as part of a team with a commitment to a student centred approach.
The Film Subject area has significant plans for developing practice based research, and Arts University Bournemouth offers a range of support for research active staff.
