Executive Personal Assistant to the Director of Research Services

The salary for this post will be from £26,052 per annum on Grade E depending on qualifications and experience.

This open ended/permanent full time post is available immediately and there is the option to consider appointing at 0.8 FTE for the right candidate.

Now, on the back of major academic staff recruitment and investment in research capacity, the University has made a step change in its research earnings performance, research quality, numbers of research students and knowledge transfer.

Research Services works in partnership with the University’s six Colleges and central Professional Services to meet the University’s Research income target. The Research Services Directorate reports to the Registrar.

The Research Services Directorate is looking for an Executive Personal Assistant, who will provide high level executive support to the Director and will also be part of the wider operations team who support Research Services, Doctoral College and the Innovation, Impact and Business directorates.

Main responsibilities for the role include:

  • Being the first point of contact for the Directors office and visitors
  • Managing external client information and priorities
  • Providing diary management support and workload co-ordination for the Director. This will include co-ordinating appointments, briefings and logistical arrangements for internal and external visits
  • Organising and ensuring that the Director are fully prepared for meetings including attending meetings, briefings etc. and minuting as appropriate
  • Arranging travel and accommodation

The successful candidate would have significant previous experience in an executive PA position, supporting a senior role in the public or private sector along with excellent organisational, time management, written and oral skills. They must also have exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.

The successful applicant will join an existing operations team based at the University's Innovation Centre in Exeter. They will be based at the Exeter office but will have frequent contact with the team in Cornwall.
