University of Bath - Electronic & Electrical Engineering

Interview Date: To be confirmed

Teaching Fellow: £39,324 to £46,924

Senior Teaching Fellow: £48,327 to £55,998

The Department of Electronic and Electrical Engineering is currently recruiting for a Teaching Fellow (TF) or Senior Teaching Fellow (STF) position directly associated with its new MSc Electronic Systems Design, www.bath.ac.uk/engineering/graduate-school/taught-programmes/electronic-systems-design/index.html. The Department has a strong record in both research and teaching, is consistently very highly ranked in the UK National Student Survey and had 91% of its research activity graded as either world-leading or internationally excellent in the Research Excellence Framework 2014.

Applicants should hold an undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline and, ideally, a PhD and a higher education teaching qualification or professional recognition; please see the job description and person specification for the specific duties and criteria for TF and STF levels. The Department has strong links with industry and the post holder will be expected to engage with industry and work in conjunction with the Faculty of Engineering and Design’s Placement Office to develop the placement component of the MSc Electronic Systems Design. The post-holder will also be expected to deliver taught units and supervise projects at postgraduate level.

Applicants must provide a two page teaching statement to cover their teaching background and experience, and explicitly state which modules in the new MSc they would be able to deliver. Applications without this statement will not be progressed. For full details of the MSc Electronic Systems Design please see www.bath.ac.uk/engineering/programme-specifications/ and the Background Information for applicants for the full module contents.

The post-holder will join a successful and expanding department and faculty. The University of Bath is based in an attractive campus on the edge of the beautiful World Heritage City of Bath. It offers a progressive academic environment and the lifestyle advantages of working and living in one of the most beautiful areas in the country.

Prior to drawing up a shortlist, potential candidates may be invited to visit the Department to meet staff and give a presentation on their teaching interests.

We encourage the development of a diverse and inclusive workforce and offer excellent benefits, with options for flexible working. Female applicants are particularly welcome to apply. For an informal discussion about the positions, please contact Dr Adrian Evans, Head of Department on +44 (0) 1225 386330, emaila.n.evans@bath.ac.ukor Professor Peter Wilson on +44 (0) 1225 386828, email p.r.wilson@bath.ac.uk.
