Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Reader in Laser Applications for Particle Accelerators Grade 7/8/9

University of Liverpool - School of Engineering

Faculty of Science and Engineering

The Cockcroft Institute, a leading international centre for particle accelerator R&D, operated jointly by the universities of Lancaster, Liverpool, Manchester & Strathclyde and the UK Science & Technology Facilities Council, is seeking to recruit, (depending on experience and profile) a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer or Reader. You should have a PhD in a relevant discipline or relevant industrial experience and be able to show an excellent track record in high power, ultra-short pulse, laser beam engineering (the manipulation and control of laser beams) and/or particle acceleration using intense laser pulses, evidenced by publications in refereed journals and appropriate esteem factors such as invitations to speak or positions of responsibility. The Institute is particularly interested in strengthening its profile in laser beam engineering for photo injectors, direct laser accelerators, dielectric laser accelerators and laser-plasma-acceleration. An additional area of interest is in laser techniques for manufacture of novel structures for accelerator diagnostics, but not as a primary stand-alone research topic.
