The University’s comprehensive credential and program offerings engage some 19,000 full and part-time students in more than 65 programs including four-year undergraduate degrees, applied degrees, university transfer programs and one and two-year diploma and certificates, all built on the academic foundation of undergraduate degrees. MacEwan’s City Centre Campus is a hub of creative, scholarly and cultural activity in downtown Edmonton.
MacEwan’s President is accountable to the Board of Governors, through the Board Chair, for providing strategic leadership to the University. Through an engaged dialogue with the entire University community, the President will co-create and articulate the unique position that this evolving undergraduate university offers to students and the strategic role that it will play in the post-secondary sector in Alberta, Canada and the world. Guided by the Strategic and Academic Plan, the President will advance the University’s academic programs to ensure that students experience transformative education in a creative, collaborative and supportive learning environment. The President will steward the University’s long term sustainability plans and continue the evolution of the University's bi-cameral governance system and its academic and management systems and processes. By expanding and developing new partnerships and relationships with the business and social services community, the Alberta post-secondary sector, government and other key stakeholders, the President will create and foster enhanced learning opportunities for students and faculty in the advancement of the University's mandate.
An inspirational and innovative leader, the ideal candidate will possess a doctoral degree or relevant terminal degree and will bring a distinctive record of academic achievement, a demonstrated commitment to teaching and learning, and a successful track record of administrative leadership experience within a university or similarly complex organization. Committed to high quality, transformational undergraduate education, the next President must have a genuine interest in engaging students, faculty and staff and be able to lead the University community in the development, articulation and promotion of the University’s mandate. An accessible, approachable and visible leader, the next President will be able to engage a wide variety of external stakeholders and partners, solicit support for the University and position it to play a city-building role. The next President will possess a demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusivity and an understanding of Indigenous perspectives and communities.
