These posts are primarily associated with The Department of Economics and Finance in DUBS, which is one of three ‘research-led’ departments who share the ambition to advance world changing knowledge and secure global impact through increasingly collaborative research across disciplines with colleagues in Durham University and beyond. We will seek to contribute perspectives that enhance the utility and impact of research in other disciplines with perspectives and methods that promote a more equitable and sustainable future for all. As a department that is continuously seeking to develop challenges of both rigour and relevance, we publish our work in internationally outstanding journals and disseminate it beyond the academy. We are in the process of renewing a number of clusters of global excellence in Finance that blend fundamental research with the co-creation of new knowledge through business and societal engagement.

We seek to further enhance our standing within the academic community while ensuring that our research provides even greater benefits to wider society – both in terms of business and equitable futures for all. In support of our aim to build upon and improve our success, the School is developing existing strengths including investing in Faculty. As such; the School has positions available from Lecturer (Assistant Professor) through to Chair; our focus is on the appointment of outstanding colleagues.

The successful candidate will have an outstanding international reputation for their research and an exceptional track record of academic leadership, teaching and administration. They will be expected to demonstrate the highest professional standards in both research and education, and to attract excellent research students to Durham.

We welcome applications from exceptional scholars with research and teaching interests in Finance, especially encompassing intellectual prowess in the following:

Banking, quantitative finance, household finance, and high frequency econometrics. The post title of the successful candidate will be in accordance with their area of expertise.
