Applications are open for the Director of Doctoral Studies for The School of Design at Carnegie Mellon University. This is a senior leadership, tenure-track faculty position at the Associate or Full Professor level. The School of Design is a longtime leader in doctoral design education in North America, and in the fall of 2014 launched an expanded program for doctoral studies that offers two types of doctoral degrees: a full-time residential PhD in Transition Design (4 years) and a professional Doctorate of Design/DDes (3 years). Qualified applicants must have an undergraduate, masters and PhD in non-architectural, non-engineering areas of design, experience serving as a primary adviser to PhD students, university-level teaching experience and an extensive publication/research record.
