The Southampton Health Technology Assessments Centre (SHTAC) is part of the Wessex Institute, within the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Southampton. We are a national centre of excellence and one of nine Technology Assessment Review (TAR) teams commissioned to assess the clinical effectiveness and cost effectiveness of health technologies for NICE and other national policy customers. Our research portfolio includes evaluations of drugs, medical devices, diagnostics and procedures, and other health and public health programmes. Members of SHTAC have expertise in health economic evaluation and decision modelling, systematic review and evidence synthesis, information science and broader health services research.
With the continuation of our TAR contract and expansion of other grant funded research, we are looking for a researcher to join a cohesive research team working on economic evaluations and evidence synthesis to address major policy questions concerning the use of drugs, devices, procedures, diagnostics, public health programmes and other health interventions. You will also work with colleagues on a programme of research on methodological developments related to health technology assessment.
If you have the relevant background, this is an opportunity to join a growing team developing an influential research programme. We would expect a PhD or equivalent qualification in a relevant discipline (health technology assessment/epidemiology/public health/health promotion) and/or relevant research experience. You would be encouraged and supported to develop your knowledge, skills and research interests, to publish high quality research reports and papers and to present findings at local, national and international conferences and meetings. Opportunities for further training are encouraged and supported.
Appointment will be made on the ERE4 scale, and is for twelve months to cover maternity leave.
Applications will be considered from candidates who are working towards or nearing completion of a relevant PhD qualification. The title of Research Fellow will be applied upon completion of PhD. Prior to the qualification being awarded the title of Senior Research Assistant will be given.
You should submit your completed online application form at www.jobs.soton.ac.uk. The vacancy will close at midnight on the closing date as shown above. If you need any assistance, please contact Anastasia Shikhareva on +44 (0) 23 8059 9002. Please quote vacancy reference number 797216VB on all correspondence.
