Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh aims to offer its students a positive and enjoyable student experience. The Student Services department has a major role in positively contributing to that experience, ensuring that the highest standard of information, advice, guidance and support is in place to enable students to be active and successful in both their academic and social activities. In addition to wellbeing, services offered include student counselling, careers and employability, the disability service, and student funding advice.
The Wellbeing Adviser is a newly created post within Student Services that aims to enhance our services by providing wellbeing support, promoting wellbeing and fostering building up resilience among students. The post holder will also be expected to provide mental health mentoring to students, including to disabled students and manage the Stay-on-course programme.
We are looking for a highly motivated person with experience in providing mental health mentoring to students or young people. Experience of working in Higher Education is desirable. This is a sole practitioner role and requires excellent organisational skills and the ability to work autonomously. The post holder is expected to work closely and in co-operation with all Student Services’ units, Residence Life team, Effective Learning Service, QM Connect, and the Student Union.
