Postdoctoral Research Assistant

Applications are sought for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant funded by a Cancer Research UK Programme grant. The research will be based in the group of Professor Frances Balkwill, Centre for Cancer and Inflammation, Barts Cancer Institute, Queen Mary University of London in the Charterhouse Square Campus.

The research will contribute to the overall aim of the group in understanding and targeting the peritoneal microenvironment of high grade serous ovarian cancer The research will use primary tumour samples, experimental models and 3D tissue culture models and a range of different molecular and cell biology techniques. The candidate will join an highly collaborative and interactive team with strong links with clinicians working on ovarian cancer.

Essential requirements for this post include a PhD in a relevant biological subject and an undergraduate degree in a biological subject. Research laboratory experience in cell biology is essential. Experience in the field of immunology and appropriate publication records would be an advantage, as well as experience with mouse models. A demonstrated ability to communicate well, work within a team and maintain good laboratory records are also essential.

The post is a full time, fixed-term position until Sept 30th 2018. Starting salary will be in the range £32,405 to £42,431 per annum inclusive of London Allowance. Benefits include 30 days annual leave, plus 4 College closure days, defined benefit pension scheme and an interest free season ticket loan.
