The appointment will be on UCL Grade 10. The salary range will be Competitive Salary and Benefits, inclusive of London Allowance.

UCL’s Planning Team was established in 2015 to support the Provost and the Senior Management Team (SMT) to facilitate integrated planning across UCL and ensure alignment between plans and our UCL 2034 strategy.

The Director of Data & Insight will be responsible for delivering the highest quality data and insights to help colleagues across UCL to make better decisions. UCL creates and thrives on evidence, analysis and insight, but has historically under-invested in data and business intelligence technologies and skills. UCL has identified transformation of management information (MI) and insight as a top priority. This is an outstanding opportunity to shape the development of this new service. You will co-direct (with a colleague in Information Services) an ambitious multi-year programme to transform the MI landscape at UCL. You will combine strategic foresight, sound tactical decision-making and personal qualities needed to influence and work with UCL’s SMT and a diverse set of internal customers.

We are expecting you to grow a high performance team, focused heavily on insight for internal customers. Leading by example, you will introduce rigour and innovation to data management, harness the potential of investments in BI technologies and deliver sector-leading analysis and insights to support UCL’s Strategy 2034.

You will be able to provide vision and direction and to think at institution and sector level, but you will also be happy to roll up your sleeves and work through detailed issues and be hands-on in the start-up phase of a new service.
