The University of Bradford School of Management is an international leader in business education, research and knowledge transfer. Following the recent appointment of a new Dean, the Faculty is commencing a period of strategically managed growth and investment.
The prime objective of the post is to, lead research and knowledge transfer, and to develop innovative and creative approaches to learning in the area of Management Information Systems and Governance. The expectation is also that the successful post holder will assume management responsibilities in areas such as employability and/or business school charter. We are particularly interested in academics with a very strong record of publication in international refereed journals, and can demonstrate successful engagement in knowledge transfer activities, as well as excellence in teaching. You will also have recently held a management role that has close contact with students and supports the development of their graduate attributes. You will be expected to teach to undergraduate, postgraduate and post experience students as necessary. Some of this teaching may be in overseas locations. In addition, the successful candidate will be expected to play a part in the strategic and operational leadership of the School of Management and/or faculty.
As a Professor, the post-holder will also have responsibility for the academic leadership and mentorship of Management staff with regard to their research and academic careers. The successful candidate must be able to show evidence of experience of research and publication commensurate with a chair appointment in a Business School with a strong international reputation. Significant recent grant capture is a pre-requisite of this post, as the successful applicant will play a leading role in securing research grants. A consistent and on-going commitment to research, evidenced by an externally recognised record of publication, is essential, as is a commitment to attaining the highest levels of teaching and learning. The post holder should have the proven capacity to attract external income from national and international bodies for research and knowledge exchange activities. Also important will be an appreciation of the developments taking place in the area of Information Systems and Electronic Governance, and the capacity for interdisciplinary work across the School and the wider University. You must be able to work as a member of a team, have good communication skills, and demonstrate an ability to work to tight and often conflicting deadlines.
