University of Oxford - Mathematical Institute

Mathematical Institute, Andrew Wiles Building, Radcliffe Observatory Quarter, Woodstock Road, Oxford

We invite applications for a Postdoctoral Research Assistant position, funded by The Simons Foundation Grant to work with Professor Chris Beem at the Mathematical Institute, University of Oxford. This is a 2 year fixed-term position and is available from 1 January 2017.

The collaboration is an international effort aimed at the development of new techniques for understanding non-perturbative quantum field theory, with a special emphasis on conformal field theories. In addition to the PI, the Oxford arm of the collaboration will include a DPhil student to start in 2017. The post holder will have the opportunity to participate in research projects with the PI related to algebraic structures in conformal and superconformal field theories. In addition, the post holder will enjoy significant freedom to pursue their own research interests.

Applicants should have a PhD/DPhil in Theoretical Physics or Mathematics together with expertise in quantum field theory, conformal field theory, supersymmetry, or topological field theory and a strong publication record.

Please direct informal enquiries to the Administrative Assistant using the email address below, quoting vacancy reference 126269.

Applicants should read the job description before writing their application. You will be required to upload a letter setting out how you meet the selection criteria, a curriculum vitae including full list of publications, a statement of research interests and the contact details of two referees as part of your online application.
