We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to work on a three-year post funded by the EPSRC. The post supports the award of a Fellowship to Professor Rob Poole and you would be expected to manage the day-to-day running of his laboratory including training others in various experimental techniques and constructing small-scale experiments.
You should be qualified to BTEC Higher (or equivalent) in a relevant area (e.g. physics or engineering) and have relevant experience of mixing and characterising complex fluids. In particular it is essential that you have experience of rheological measurement techniques and familiarity with designing and commissioning fluid mechanics experiments and a good knowledge of the fundamentals of fluid mechanics, rheology and heat transfer. You will also be expected to train others in the use of such techniques (including both undergraduate and postgraduate students) and be expected to manage the laboratory on a day-to-day basis. Knowledge of laser techniques for fluid flow measurements e.g. laser Doppler velocimetry or particle image velocimetry would also be advantageous.
