We are offering an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Research Fellow to work on a project grant recently funded by the Chief Scientist’s Office of the Scottish Government (CSO). The project will involve synthesising metal nanoparticles which will be functionalised with chelating groups and targeted using antibodies to molecules over-expressed on colorectal cancer cells. The project will also require biological testing of the molecules using cancer models. This is a collaborative project between the laboratories of Drs Tim Smith (School of Medicine, Medical Sciences and Nutrition), Laurent Trembleau, Abbie McLaughlin (department of Chemistry) and Dr Glenn Flux (Institute of Cancer Research/Royal Marsden Hospital, Sutton, Surrey)
You must hold a PhD or equivalent degree and be experienced in synthetic chemistry preferably with an interest in nanoparticles and/or radiochemistry.
As this post is funded by CSO it will be available for 18 months from 1 January 2017.
Salary will be paid on the Grade 6 salary scale (£32,004 per annum) with placement according to qualifications and experience
